Bucket List

The idea of a bucket list was made popular by Jack Nickolson and Morgan Freeman in a movie appropriately named, The Bucket List. I however proudly confess that I was an early adopter of the bucket list idea. As a kid, I used to dream of accomplishing things that in hindsight seem a bit crazy. I wrote out a list when I was twelve that included things like running the Iditarod, climbing K2 and playing in the NFL. Needless to say, I fell short of accomplishing most of those things.

After moving to Nepal in my mid-twenties, I sat down and wrote a second bucket list with dreams that seemed to fit me a bit more. Now that I am in my early thirties, I thought it appropriate to write out a new bucket list and share it with you. The following are things I hope to accomplish before I “kick the bucket.”

  1. I think #27 should be a trip to Turkey to see the 7 Churches of Revelation…I know where you can find FREE housing near Ephesus!

  2. I know one, visit Kennett’s Antiques & Junk plus the famous Pool-Room hamburgers and a visit in Oil Valley with the Bell’s

  3. Great list! You have encouraged me and my family to make such a list. Praying for you, love to you both from Higher Ground!

  4. I just had to see your wonderful list! It is truly amazing. I can’t wait to see you cross #27 off your list!

  5. Nathan: My husband and I attend the 5:00 service at Sojourn East. We have heard Pastor Kevin’s heart cry for you through his sermons on Job. I have been walking with the Lord through my battle with lung cancer since October 2010. I have been richly blessed by the way you share your heart through this blog. I feel your pain and grief.
I hope to encourage you that you are doing all that you can do by acknowledging that God is in control. He sees your suffering and He is holding you in His arms, feeling your pain and knows the number of your days. I am reminded of a story that James Dobson told of taking his young son to the doctor to get stitched up after an injury and crying with him as he had to hold him down for the doctor to do the work. I am praying for you.
I have a practical thought or two. But you don’t know me and I don’t know you, I will not post them here. Since you have my email address, you or your wife may feel free to contact me, if you desire. God bless you.

  6. Krista can help you w your ride a horse dream. Maybe in Sept. , when you’re healed up, you can ride her horse- Xxtra Cool. If you befriend her on Facebook you’ll see lots pics of Cool. Sarah can probably ride too, if she wants.

  7. I’m glad to see you are still adding to your list and that you are able to mark quite a few off the list as accomplished. If you need help, my boss and I can help/recommend titles to read for 33. Chuck loves books about presidents.
